Marqués de Riscal Winery is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Spain. Founded in 1858, it was a pioneer in adopting Bordeaux winemaking techniques for red wines. In 1972, it championed the creation of the Rueda Denomination of Origin for white wines. In 1991, it introduced Barón de Chirel, Spain's first high-expression wine.
